Cheltenham Thoughts 15/2

Good and bad news this week. Simonsig has just impressed in his warm up race for the Festival but there is still some doubt as to which contest he will take in at the Festival.  The odds he's trading at for both the Supreme and the Neptune are shorter than the prices I took so I've laid back both my positions. I'm nicely green on him for both races now with no liability so can step in again when his target is confirmed.

The bad news is that Last Instalment, a horse who had won the PJ Moriarty in fine style at the weekend, has sustained a leg injury and misses the RSA Chase. Unfortunate.

I had a really good Festival last year and had a winner every day but this year it really does revolve around one horse, and he's still a decent price. Indeed some bookmakers are going 9/4 Sprinter Sacre and 3/1 Peddlers Cross. I'm truly baffled at the closeness of their odds. The topping up continues including doubling him up with Fingal Bay in the Neptune. That horse had Simonsig behind him in a novice hurdle at Sandown in December. The form of that race has worked out incredibly well and he has a leading chance in that contest.
